LED therapy, or light emitting diode therapy, is a non-invasive advanced dermal treatment that uses varying wavelengths of light to target different structures within the skin in order to initiate a biological process that helps the skin to heal and rejuvenate. Through our research on how the sun-rays affect the skin, we learnt that different wavelengths of the visible light spectrum correspond to different colours of light and penetrate the skin to different levels, targeting light receptors within our cells and stimulating different biological processes. Originally designed by NASA scientists ,through the use of LED lamps, it is possible to replicate those wavelengths by using coloured LED lamps that vibrate at specific frequencies and target light receptors, so the cell can convert the light into energy and address the corresponding skin structure or concern.  LED light therapy has been proven to increase circulation, stimulate cell activity, accelerate tissue repair, kill acne bacteria, decrease inflammation, improve skin texture tone and clarity, as well as decrease fine lines and wrinkles.
LED therapy is suitable for all skin types and is non-invasive with no downtime. Best results are achieved from the accumulative effect of multiple treatments. It is a widely used, safe and simple regenerative skin treatment that has a proven track record  for a variety of cosmetic objectives.

Originally designed by NASA for space exploration, LED light therapy has been proven to increase circulation, accelerate tissue repair, kill acne bacteria, decrease inflammation, improve skin tone texture and clarity, as well as decrease fine wrinkles. This treatment is suitable for all skin types.

All the same benefits as an LED facial treatment just targeted to treat an area of the body. The LED lamp is only big enough to do individual areas. eg: back or leg or arm. However, multiple areas can be booked and the lamp repositioned every 20 minutes. This treatment is suitable for all skin types.

LED - ENHANCED  (add to any treatment)

Benefits of LED therapy:

  • LED therapy increases cellular activity by providing wavelengths of light to light receptors within skin cells so they can convert it into energy. This enables cells to operate at their optimal level.

  • Reduces inflammation by increasing blood flow and circulation into the treated tissue.

  • Increases the proliferation of fibroblasts that lay down collagen and elastin fibres; normalising dysfunction, thickening the skin, increasing elasticity and helping to diminish fine lines and wrinkles by creating new skin cells.

  • Targets the sebaceous unit, helping to reduce sebaceous oil and minimise pore size.

  • Kills p acne bacteria and helps minimise the effect of an active acne outbreak.

  • Stimulates the lymphatic system helping to remove toxins and inflammation from the tissue.

  • Red LED lamps acts on fibroblasts, the most common cell within the skin, that play an important role in wound healing and collagen production. Meaning red light can not only help to reverse some of the signs related to photo-ageing, but also makes it an excellent addition post dermal therapy treatments as it helps speed up the wound healing process. In addition, some studies show that red light may help to restore hair for those with androgenic alopecia, or male- and female-pattern hair loss.

  • Blue LED lamps is most effective at reducing activity in the sebaceous glands, so they produce less of the oil that can plug hair follicles, typically associated with a build up of cellular debris and acne. A combination of both blue and red light was found to be an effective treatment option in the fight against acne — As blue light has also been shown to kill acne-causing bacteria, while red light targeted inflammation, redness and wound healing.

  • Yellow LED lamps penetrated the skin the deepest, targeting the lymphatic system, and helping improve circulation and the removal of toxins and wrinkle causing inflammation from the targeted area. For this reason yellow LED can be used to increase wound healing, skin hydration, collagen induction and overall skin health, making it another beneficial wavelength for post dermal treatments and wound healing in general.

What to expect from LED therapy:

  • This is a non-invasive procedure that produces no discomfort and no down-time. It can be carried out on all skin types

  • There is no need to adjust any home skin-care routine before having this treatment carried out.

  • LED therapy is a skin rejuvenation treatment carried out in a medi-spa setting on a salon treatment table

  • Firstly, a deep cleanse will be carried out to ensure the skin is free of oil, debris and ready for the treatment

  • An alcohol swab is passed over the cleansed face to kill bacteria and help minimise the risk of infection

  • The LED therapy treatment will then begin. The technician positions the LED lamp over the area to be treated.

  • Once the lamp is turned on, it is common for the patient not to feel anything throughout the treatment as the LED lamps work deep below the skins surface.

  • For optimal results the treatment time is 20 minutes. The patient will be left under the lamp for that duration.

  • Due to the nature of the skin, with skin cells constantly renewing, the signs of ageing and collagen lose will start to show, and/or acne breakouts can begin again. This is why it is recommended to stay on maintenance treatments every few months.

  • A nourishing vitamin B serum is applied at the end of the treatment to help soothe the skin. Vitamin B is a powerful nutrient that plays an important role in mitochondrial energy metabolism within the cell, helping to improve cellular function. It is also beneficial for barrier function as it boosts the production of the cell outer membrane.

  • A broad spectrum SPF is then applied to help protect the damaged skin from UV radiation and the possibility of a pigmentary response. SPF should be worn at all times, especially for the first week post treatment as the barrier function is impaired.

  • For best results the patient should be treated every 1-2 weeks for 10 treatments, depending on the condition of the skin

Contraindications for Micro Needling:

  • Increased inflammation

  • Erythema
